Quartz Countertop Installation

Engineered stone that looks the same slab to slab and never needs sealing — with one real limitation worth knowing up front.

Quartz is manufactured — ground quartz and other minerals bound with resin under heat and pressure — which is what makes it dimensionally stable and color-consistent from one piece to the next. It does not need periodic sealing the way granite does, because it is not porous in the way natural stone is. For a lot of kitchens that low-maintenance profile is the whole reason quartz gets picked.

The trade-off is heat. The resin in quartz is the part that does not like a hot pan set straight off the stove, and enough direct heat in one spot can discolor or crack the surface in a way that is not always repairable. A trivet is not a suggestion with quartz the way it might be with some natural stone — it is the one habit that actually protects the investment.
